The Bolsheviks, originally also Bolshevists (Russian: большевики, большевик (singular) Russian pronunciation: [bəlʲʂɨˈvʲik], derived from bol'shinstvo, "majority", which comes from bol'she, "more", the comparative form of bol'shoi, "big") were a faction of the Marxist Russian Social Democratic Labour Party (RSDLP) which split apart from the Menshevik faction at the Second Party Congress in 1903. The Bolsheviks were the majority faction in a crucial vote, hence their name. They ultimately became the Communist Party of the Soviet Union. The Bolsheviks came to power in Russia during the October Revolution phase of the Russian Revolution of 1917, and founded the Soviet Union. The Bolsheviks, founded by Vladimir Lenin, were an organization of professional revolutionaries under a democratic internal hierarchy governed by the principle of democratic centralism, who considered themselves as the vanguard of the revolutionary working class of Russia. Their beliefs and practices were often referred to as Bolshevism. Bolshevik revolutionary leader Leon Trotsky frequently used the terms "Bolshevism" and "Bolshevist" after his exile from the Soviet Union to differentiate between what he saw as
Red is any of a number of similar colors evoked by light consisting predominantly of the longest wavelengths of light discernible by the human eye, in the wavelength range of roughly 630–740 nm. Longer wavelengths than this are called infrared (below red), and cannot be seen by the naked human eye. Red is used as one of the additive primary colors of light, complementary to cyan, in RGB color systems. Red is also one of the subtractive primary colors of RYB color space but not CMYK color space. In human color psychology, red is associated with bravery, purity, happiness, good luck, heat, energy, and blood, and emotions that "stir the blood", including anger, passion, love, pain, and sacrifice. The word red comes from the Old English rēad. Further back, the word can be traced to the Proto-Germanic rauthaz and the Proto-Indo European root reudh-. This is the only color word which has been traced to an Indo-European root. In Sanskrit, the word rudra means red. In the English language, the word red is associated with the color of blood, certain flowers (e.g. roses), and ripe fruits (e.g. apples, cherries). Fire is also strongly connected, as is the sun and the sky at sunset. Healthy
This page is about the tributary of the Mississippi River; for the tributary of Lake Winnipeg, see the Red River of the North. The Red River, or sometimes The Red River of the South, is a major tributary of the Mississippi and Atchafalaya Rivers located in the United States of America. The river gains its name from the red-clay farmland of its watershed. It is one of several rivers with that name. The Red River is the second largest river basin in the southern Great Plains. It rises in two branches (forks) in the Texas Panhandle and flows east, where it acts as the border between present-day states of Texas and Oklahoma. It is a short border between Texas and Arkansas before entering Arkansas, turning south near Fulton, Arkansas and flowing into Louisiana. The total length of the river is 1,360 miles (2,190 km). The Red River rises in two forks in northern Texas and southeastern Oklahoma. The southern and largest fork, which is about 120 miles (190 km), is generally called the Prairie Dog Town Fork. It is formed in Randall County, Texas near the county seat of Canyon, by the confluence of intermittent Palo Duro Creek and Tierra Blanca Creek. (The names mean "Hard Wood" and "White
Red is a 1974 album by progressive rock group King Crimson. It was their last studio recording of the 1970s and the last before the lead member Robert Fripp temporarily disbanded the group. Fripp and Bill Bruford are the only personnel on this album to appear in later versions of King Crimson. David Cross left King Crimson in 1974, reducing the group to the trio of Robert Fripp, John Wetton and Bill Bruford. The trio recorded Red with the help of Cross and former band-members Ian McDonald and Mel Collins. Fripp disbanded King Crimson on September 24, 1974, and the album was released later that year with no accompanying tour. While musically similar to its predecessor Starless and Bible Black, Red was produced very differently from previous King Crimson albums. For instance, while the acoustic guitar features prominently in previous releases, on Red it is heard only for a few bars in "Fallen Angel". Also, unlike previous King Crimson albums, Red features extensive use of guitar overdubs. Later albums lacked acoustic guitar entirely and reverted to a minimum of overdubs, though by that point the band featured multiple guitarists playing simultaneously. The album opens with the title

Red was a nightclub located in Washington D.C.. It shut its doors on October 23, 2005, after nine years of operation. The club was owned by Farid Ali, and featured a set roster of weekly resident DJs as well as a number of guest DJs from around the U.S. and abroad. The club was located at 1802 Jefferson Place NW in Washington D.C., and was simply a basement venue with a small bar, a dance floor, painted red brick walls, and minimal seating. The sound system, however, was considered the heartbeat of the club and was often referred to as one of the better sounding systems in the city. Red was known for parties that often lasted until the early morning hours. Red was opened in 1996, and was decidedly influential in the Washington D.C. club scene. Urb Magazine named Red the 'Best intimate nightclub' in 2003. Red was officially closed in 2005, after a four-day dance marathon. The club's owner cited rising rent as the reason for the shutdown. A discussion of the club's closing by some of its patrons can be found on deephousepage.comand districtsoul.com. Donna Edwards
The Red represents the collective forces of chaos and destruction in The Dark Tower (series), and is the antagonist to the White. The most notable entity of the Red is the Crimson King. The Red may be an Alice in Wonderland reference; the two opposing sides in both Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass are the Red Queen and the White Queen. This could be a coincidence, however, and 'White' could just be referring to purity and goodness whereas 'Red' represents the Crimson King.

Travelling to the 4 BlackX bases in Koorong, Manhatten, Kyo, and Shingrow Red as Alkaiser shut them down and defeated their leaders, including Shuzer, the man who killed his father. He also encounters a peculiarly honourable Mec by the name of Metal Black (MBlack). He battles this foe three times, and in the final battle with MBlack III Alkaiser can learn Re-Al-Phoenix, his ultimate offensive hero skill. After defeating the 4 emperors, red sneaks abopard the Black Ray with the help of his old friend Hawk. He destroys it by triggering a self-destruct mechanism and he ends up in the main stronghold of BlackX, where he is in his Alkaiser form for the rest of the game. There

Red is the fourth original album by British pop/rock group T'Pau. The group originally gained success in the late 1980s and split in the early 1990s. In 1997 original lead singer Carol Decker reformed the band with a completely new line-up and released a brand new version of their original hit "Heart and Soul". The new line-up started playing gigs and recorded this album in 1998. The album was released on Decker's own Gnatfish label. Though no singles were released directly from the album, the song "With a Little Luck" was released as a promotional single and "Giving Up the Ghost" was completely re-recorded in 1999 for commercial single release. The album was re-released in 1999 with three bonus tracks (including the 1997 version of "Heart and Soul"). In 2007, the album was officially released for download. Bonus tracks:
Red (sometimes called Big Red) is a fictional anthropomorphic fire engine in Pixar's animated feature film Cars. He is a silent fire truck who waters his flowers many times a day. Very shy, he rarely speaks and is only heard when he is crying and shocked that Lightning accidentally killed his flowers. He is also seen crying after Lightning McQueen botchs his community service sentence (pulling Bessie the Asphalt Paver and resurface the damaged main road), and later, when Lightning apparently leaves town after finishing the road work. Red is voiced by the late Joe Ranft, who also voiced a Peterbilt whom Lightning encountered en route to Radiator Springs after mistaking him for Mack. Red is absent in the video game, presumably because of his obscurity in the movie (some speculate that his absence is out of respect for Ranft, who drowned before the film was released, but Ranft was still alive at the time that the game was finished). His name could be a reference to the Pixar short film Red's Dream.

Red (Bokmål: Rødt, Nynorsk: Raudt, Northern Sami: Ruoksat) is a Norwegian far-left revolutionary socialist politicial party and the leading party on the organized far-left of Norway. Since 2007 the party has sought a seat in parliament, the only municipality they have a realistic chance of earning a seat is Oslo and Hordaland. Torstein Dahle former leader of the Red Electoral Alliance was elected to position as party leader during the party's first held national convention. Red is officially committed to far-left socialist ideals. Red along with its predecessor party, Red Electoral Alliance has struggled with the label "communist". The reasoning behind this label is that the leading members of the party were or still are involved in promoting communist values, notable examples are Erling Folkvord and party leader, Dahle. The party's main principles is a socialist economy, which allows for a strong public sector and nationalization of large businneses. Red has continued its slow increase in voters from the days of the Red Electoral Alliance on a national and local level.

In 2003, Arkansas State University decided to make a new mascot, named 'Red', created by ASU’s Director of Athletic Marketing Andrea Scott. “The spirit character began as a project to design a character that looks friendly, is unique, and is not an animal,” Andrea said. “I was looking for something out of the ordinary that’s presence could elevate spirit at ball games.” “Red absolutely will not replace Arkansas State’s official mascot, the Indian Family,” said Dr. Dean Lee, ASU Director of Athletics. “Red was named because that was how he was perceived by the marketing analysis and research groups, which were children and youth,” said Dr. Dean Lee, ASU’s Athletic Director. Red is a three-issue comic book mini-series published in 2003 and 2004 by WildStorm imprint Homage Comics. It was created by writer Warren Ellis and artist Cully Hamner. Paul Moses is a retired Agent of the CIA, formerly working in "foreign acquisitions". Living in a secluded area, his human contacts are limited to pleasant phone calls to his handler (who desires what she believes to have been Moses' type of work) and letters to his niece that lives in England. Michael Beesley, the newly politically appointed Director of the CIA, is taken to Room R as part of his initiation, where he learns of Moses' existence and the full extent of his activities. Disgusted by what he has seen, and fearing public reaction should any of those secrets leak out, he orders the assassination of Moses. A three man hit-team is sent to Moses' residence, and he kills them, recognizing the pattern of the attack and realizing his death has been sanctioned. He calls his handler only to learn that she has been transferred. He informs the Agency that his status has changed from Green to Red before leaving his house and going on the hunt. In June 2009, DC Comics released a new, solo collection of the series that

Red is one of the five Magic: The Gathering colors.
It's the color of freedom, chaos, passion, impulse and fury, as well as lightning, the classical element of fire, and the non-living geological aspects of the classical element earth (the color Green representing Earth's living side).
Red is one of the best colors for destroying opposing lands and artifacts; sacrificing permanent resources for temporary (but hopefully game-winning) power, such as with Final Fortune; and playing spells that deal "direct damage" to creatures or players, like "Lightning Bolt" or "Fireball", which gave rise to another term for direct damage: "burn".
Red has a wide array of creatures, but with the exception of the extremely powerful (and infamous) dragons, most of them are fast at the cost of being small and weak, or unbalanced with strong power and weak toughness, rendering them easily destroyed by a weak blocker; it has the vast majority of cards that involve random chance; and some of its cards can turn against or hurt their owner in return for being more powerful for their cost, such as the classic Jackal Pup.
Red also shares the trickery theme with Blue and can temporarily steal opponents' creatures or divert their spells, although generally not permanently. Many of Red's most famous creatures have the "Haste" trait, which lets them attack and use many abilities a turn earlier than normal. Red's weaknesses include its inability to destroy enchantments, the random or self-destructive nature of many of its spells, and its generally weak late-game play: most of its cards are designed to win fast or not at all.
Red is a political adjective which associates with communism, Soviet Union, or radical left politics. Depending on the context the adjective may be perceived to bear either a pejorative or positive connotation. In its literal meaning, the word is used in the term red flag and red star, the object which are in fact of red color, but which are the symbols of communism. Another well-known example is Red Army. During the Russian Civil War the term commonly "Reds" referred to the Red Army forces and local Bolshevik administrations, as opposed to the "Whites". This epithet was widely used in early Soviet Russia: "red professor", "red merchant", "red specialist", etc., to draw a distinction from the corresponding notions of the tsarist, bourgeois past.

"Red" had been previously released on The Noisebox EP, which contained an earlier version of the song. "Vum Garda" was also released on the 12" Vinyl pressing of Asleep in the Back. The CDs were released with two different sets of art work that were similar to the one on the 7" vinyl. The single was not well received originally until Elbow had gained acknowledgment for their work.

In the history of cryptography, 91-shiki injiki (九一式印字機) ("System 91 Printing Machine") or Angōki Taipu-A (暗号機 タイプA) ("Type A Cipher Machine"), codenamed Red by the United States, was a diplomatic cryptographic machine used by the Japanese Foreign Office before and during World War II. A relatively simple device, it was quickly broken by western cryptographers. The Red cipher was succeeded by the "Purple" machine ("97-shiki ōbun inji-ki") which used some of the same principles. Parallel usage of the two systems assisted in the breaking of the Purple system. The Red cypher should not be confused with the Red naval code, which was used by the Imperial Japanese Navy between the wars. The latter was a codebook system, not a cipher. The Red machine encrypted and decrypted texts written in Latin characters (alphabetic only) for transmission through the cable services. These services charged a lower rate for texts that could be pronounced than for random strings of characters; therefore the machine produced telegraph code by encyphering the vowels separately from the consonants, so that the text remained a series of syllables. (The letter "Y" was treated as a vowel.) The "sixes and

"Red" is the second single by Daniel Merriweather from his second album Love & War, which was released on June 1, 2009. The single was released on May 18, 2009. It was produced by Mark Ronson, like the rest of the songs on his album. It was released on the Columbia record label. Merriweather said that this song "is about the blindness of war and the absence of compassion displayed by western administrations." The video for this song was shot in Brooklyn, New York and was directed by Anthony Mandler. The video is made up mostly of scenes showing Merriweather and his on-screen girlfriend in dark apartment. The video shows the emotional strain that is taking its toll on their relationship. It shows their anger and frustration with each other. Daniel Merriweather is also seen sitting alone in the corner of a dark room as images are projected over the wall behind him. The images depict bullets shooting through glass as well as fire. These scenes are interspersed with shots of Merriweather in a dark, abandoned warehouse, we also see him walking the streets of Brooklyn. Though the overall colour palette of the video is quite dark and dreary, hints of red are used throughout the video in

Red is an upcoming 2010 American action film based on the comic book limited series of the same name created by Warren Ellis and Cully Hamner, and published by the DC Comics imprint Homage. The film will star Bruce Willis with Robert Schwentke directing a screenplay by Jon Hoeber and Erich Hoeber. The film is scheduled for worldwide release on October 22, 2010. The project is being produced by Lorenzo di Bonaventura (GI Joe, Transformers). By April 2009, Bruce Willis was reportedly in discussions with Summit to take the starring role of Frank Moses. It was reported in July 2009 that Morgan Freeman is in talks to co-star alongside Bruce Willis in the film. Also in July 2009, Robert Schwentke, the director of The Time Traveler's Wife, was in negotiations to direct the thriller. In August 2009
